AWARDS
Aging: 55% of the wine was aged for 12 months in first, second, and third-use French oak barrels
Tasting Notes: The nose is complex with varied aromas of ripe black and red fruits such as blackberries, figs, and plums in syrup. Spice notes of black and red pepper intermingle with a touch of fresh tobacco and leather. This is a well-structured wine with good volume on the palate and smooth, round tannins that make this an ideal wine to enjoy now or over the next 10 years.
Food Pairing: Highly recommended with duck breast, lamb or pork chops, pasta with pesto, lamb masala, and chicken with mushroom sauce.
92/100 James Suckling - 2021
Plush and fruity with rich black cherries, redcurrants and dark chocolate. A pleasant, medium-bodied merlot with silky, pastry-like tannins on the palate, together with black cherries and black olives. Quite resolved, with fluffy, plummy fruit and a long, delicate finish, showing immediate drinkability. A textbook merlot, mostly from Marchigue with around 10% cabernet sauvignon in the blend. Drink now.

Merlot
The most widely planted grape in Bordeaux and a grape that has been on a relentless expansion drive throughout the world in the last decade. Merlot is adaptable to most soils and is relatively simple to cultivate. It is a vigorous naturally high yielding grape that requires savage pruning - over-cropped Merlot-based wines are dilute and bland. It is also vital to pick at optimum ripeness as Merlot can quickly lose its varietal characteristics if harvested overripe.
In St.Emilion and Pomerol it withstands the moist clay rich soils far better than Cabernet grapes, and at its best produces opulently rich, plummy clarets with succulent fruitcake-like nuances. Le Pin, Pétrus and Clinet are examples of hedonistically rich Merlot wines at their very best. It also plays a key supporting role in filling out the middle palate of the Cabernet-dominated wines of the Médoc and Graves.
Merlot is now grown in virtually all wine growing countries and is particularly successful in California, Chile and Northern Italy
