Rabourcé is considered one of the top premiers crus in Rully. Its old vines sit on a steep clay and limestone slope and yield a complex, powerful wine. The Domaine only recently acquired this historic parcel, though you wouldn’t know it. The Rabourcé is a tightly wound, structured white with notes of lemon zest, herbs, and French oak—serious white Burgundy that needs a few years to unfurl.
91 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2018 Rully 1er Cru Rabourcé offers up notions of crisp orchard fruit, orange zest, nutmeg and vanilla pod that`s patinated by its maturation in a new foudre purchased expressly to vinify this new parcel. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and precise, it`s lively and charming, concluding with a long, saline finish. Drink: 2022-2035. (Jul 2021)"
Tasting Notes: For a first vintage, this wine was immediately marked by its `terroir` consisting of white clay, with an opulent nose of aromas of white flesh fruits, chalky notes, verbena and grilled toast, slightly woody due to vinification and ageing in new wooden lightning. The palate is beautiful, fine and fleshy, fruity and very digestible, with a very beautiful aromatic persistence reminiscent of the cherry kernel at the end of the palate.
Food Pairing: It is hard to go wrong with chicken and turkey, roast dinners and cheeses.
Domaine de VillaineThe winery of the de Villaine family, co-owners of the legendary Domaine de la Rommanée-Conti, is considered the highly regarded jewel of the Cote Chalonnaise. With great devotion, they dedicate themselves in particular to the cultivation of the Aligoté as the unfortunately often misunderstood and sidelined great classic among the grape varieties of Burgundy. De Villaines` decades of work around the Aligoté made a significant contribution to the fact that Bouzeron, the only municipal appellation for this grape variety in Burgundy, was created in 1997. Like the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, the Domaine de Villaine, which is run by Aubert de Villaine`s nephew Pierre de Benoist, also uses biodynamic farming.
