CHATEAU DE FUISSE POUILLY FUISSE MARIE ANTOINETTE 2021/2022
Country: France, Burgundy, Pouilly Fuisse
Grape Varieties: Chardonnay 100%
JJ Vincent Pouilly-Fuissé Cuvée Marie Antoinette is a tribute to Jean Jacques Vincent`s mother, Marie Antoinette Vincent. The wine is sourced from several parcels including young vines from the Chateau Fuissé vineyards of Le Clos, Les Brulés and Les Combettes as well as several non-Domaine yet family-owned parcels throughout the appellation

Vinification and Ageing:
Cuvée Marie Antoinette is created with a fresh, youthful profile in mind. The grapes are vinified in stainless steel tank with only about 25% of the total blend seen any time in oak. The resulting wine is pleasing, refreshing and crisp on the palate, with youthful layers of acidity, apple, peach and vanilla.

Tasting Notes:
It has a pale yellow colour with hints of green. A touch of vanilla oak on the nose, with white blossom, lemon, apple and mineral scents. The palate is round and fruity with flavours of melon, kiwi, peach and apple, youthful acidity and again a lovely note of minerality. Overall, the wine is nicely balanced and fresh with a great length.

Famille Vincent produces a range of wines made with the same care and expertise as those made at Vincent’s historic domaine, Château Fuissé. Made primarily from grapes sourced from Mâconnais vineyards owned by members of Antoine Vincent’s family, these wines are of extremely high quality and represent remarkable value. Famille Vincent wines are both lovely and approachable wines for immediate consumption and a great introduction to the Château Fuissé range of great wines.

The Grape
Chardonnay
Chardonnay is the "Big Daddy" of white wine grapes and one of the most widely planted in the world. It is suited to a wide variety of soils, though it excels in soils with a high limestone content as found in Champagne, Chablis, and the Côte D`Or.

Burgundy is Chardonnay`s spiritual home and the best White Burgundies are dry, rich, honeyed wines with marvelous poise, elegance and balance. They are unquestionably the finest dry white wines in the world. Chardonnay plays a crucial role in the Champagne blend, providing structure and finesse, and is the sole grape in Blanc de Blancs.

It is quantitatively important in California and Australia, is widely planted in Chile and South Africa, and is the second most widely planted grape in New Zealand. In warm climates Chardonnay has a tendency to develop very high sugar levels during the final stages of ripening and this can occur at the expense of acidity. Late picking is a common problem and can result in blowsy and flabby wines that lack structure and definition.

Recently in the New World, we have seen a move towards more elegant, better- balanced and less oak-driven Chardonnays, and this is to be welcomed.
