December 2019: James Suckling selected Four Montes Wines among on top 100 Wines Of Chile for 2019.

We are celebrating the end of extraordinary year four of our best wines have been selected by respected wine critic James Suckling among the Top 100 Wines of Chile. Our super Carmenere Montes Purple Angel 2016 (ranked No 8) is among the Tio 10 in the list. Also included are Montes Alpha M 2016 (No 16) and Montes Folly 2016 (No 21), in large parrt thanks to the great quality of our Apalta grapes, and finally, Montes Alpha Special Cuvee Pinot Noir 2017 (No 31), showing the potential and innovation of our Zapallar vineyards.

After tasting more than 1.200Chilean wines, Jmaes Suckling highlights that this new selection is one of the best he`s fone in the country, showing the progress of the wines and comparing thrm to the best in the world. Suckling say "The high standards of production stands out, together with the great diversity and complexity of the trrroirs and microclimates expressedin each wine". Suckling concludes saying "It`s an exciting time to be a Chilean winemaker and at the same time to be a Chilean wines drinker".

Dcember 2019: Montes Alpha "M" 2015 Selected by Wine Spectator among its top 100 Wines of 2019

We have important new we want to share with you!. Recently, Wine Spectator published its list of Top 100 Wine of 2019, and our Montes Alpha "M" 2015 was included in ths roll of great wines (No 59), with an excellent score of 95 Points. Only four wines from South America made the long-awaited list. Once againe Montes Alpha "M"is a member of this Global elite, a recognition that makes us feel very proud of our team and the Apalta Vallet in Colchagua.

Since 1988, Wine Spectator`s editors have compiled this annual list with their selection of the top 100 wines of the year. Each entry is judged on the quality of the wine as well as its value, availability, and interest that it generates. It`s a true homage to the best vintages and wine regions and to the most succesful wine producers in the world.

Montes Alpha "M" 2015 was presented by founder and head winemaker Aurelio Montes to more than 800 experts and indurty distributors at the New York Wine Experience, in October.

VIÑA MONTES CHOSEN AS NO. 4 WINERY, IN THE WORLD’S BEST VINEYARDS AWARDS

This year, the World’s Best Vineyards Awards has chosen Montes as the fourth best winery in the world, and the best in Chile.

In an online ceremony that took place on July 13, the top 50 wineries of 2020 were announced by World’s Best Vineyards Awards, which saw Viña Montes rising two positions to number 4 in the world and number 1 in Chile.

This makes us very proud. It drives us to work on our wines day after day, delivering to our customers the best that our vineyards and team can produce.

We are proud to announce that for the fourth consecutive vintage, our dearest Purple Angel obtained an extraordinary 99 points from the renowned Canadian wine writer and critic, Natalie MacLean.

This time the rating was assigned to our 2017 vintage, described by her as “A cult classic, lush and elegant produced from 92% Caménère and 8% Petit Verdot grapes. Opaque in the glass, rich with blackberry, plum, blackcurrant, ripe cherry, bell pepper, thyme, sweet spice and silky dark chocolate. Consistently great, this wine has it all. Pair with filet mignon and date night.”

She has also made a pairing recommendation: “veal roast, slow-cooked brisket of beef, rabbit fricassée.”

This score inspires us to work even harder, with greater passion, to raise Purple Angel, Closer to the Divine.

Natalie MacLean is an accredited sommelier who operates one of the largest wine sites on the web at www.nataliemaclean.com.

She was named the World’s Best Drinks Writer at the World Food Media Awards. Her first book, Red, White, and Drunk All Over, was chosen the Best Wine Literature Book at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. Her work has appeared in Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Wine Enthusiast, Condé Nast Traveler, and Bloomberg Businessweek, among others.
